Mr. Vivek Vikram Singh
MD & Group CEO
“Vivek is the Managing Director and Group CEO of Sona Comstar, in which his primary role is to create an auto components & systems platform focused on bringing value to customers by leveraging existing and emerging technologies - especially EVs and Hybrids. His role entails capital allocation, strategic decisions for growth (organic and inorganic), business development, managing financial stakeholders and performance monitoring of individual business units.
Prior to taking over his current role, Vivek served as the Group COO & President - Finance for the Sona Group, including its then listed entity, Sona Koyo Steering Systems, a JV with JTEKT, Japan and Maruti Suzuki, India. Vivek assisted in guiding the strategy and finances of India’s largest steering systems company with an almost 60% market share and consolidated revenue of INR 1,740 crore. He later led the transaction to successfully exit the steering business by divesting SAHL’s 25% stake to its partner JTEKT in May 2017.
Before Joining Sona, Vivek spent a decade in advisory firms KPMG and Grant Thornton. His last position was the National Leader of the Industrials & Auto sector for the Indian advisory business for Grant Thornton. Vivek studied at The Doon School, following which he completed his Bachelors in Technology (B. Tech) degree from Harcourt Butler Technical University in Kanpur, India. Post his graduation, he went on to complete his management studies at the prestigious IIM, Ahmedabad.
He was recently adjudged by the Economic Times as one of India’s “40 under Forty hottest business leaders” in the awards’ 2018 edition.”
Mr. V Vikram Verma
SONA COMSTAR - Driveline Division
Vikram is the CEO of Sona Comstar - Driveline Division.
His role entails business performance, business development and P&L. The Driveline Division with revenue of INR 7000 million has an Indian origin with two manufacturing locations (Gurgaon and Pune). Its primary products are Precision Forged Gears and Differential Assemblies. The Driveline Division in India has more than 90% market share in CV and Tractors and over 60% share of business in PV. It exports over 30% of its products to US, Europe and China. The company enjoys the distinction of being the world’s largest manufacturer of precision forged gears for differentials with a global market share of 6%.
Prior to taking over his current role, Vikram served as VP (Operations) of Sona Koyo Steering Systems, a JV with JTEKT, Japan and Maruti Suzuki, India. Vikram has worked in various functions at Sona Koyo for more than 20 years right from the inception of the company in 1987.
Before joining Sona, Vikram started his career at Escorts Tractors Ltd. as GET.
Vikram completed his Bachelors in Technology (Mechanical) degree from Karnataka Regional Engineering College, Surathkal in 1981.
Mr. Sat Mohan Gupta
SONA COMSTAR - Electrical Division
Sat is the CEO of Sona Comstar - Electrical Division, in which his primary role is to take the company from Starter & Alternator supplier to Hybrid and EV systems provider to global OEMs.
His role encompasses growing the existing core business of Starter motors & Alternators by bringing new global OEMs – strengthening the core by increasing the revenue by 50% in next two years. Sat has led the team in diversifying the footprint - Sona Comstar - Electrical Division has grown over last few years by expanding it’s manufacturing and R&D in India, China, Mexico and the USA. Sat is steering the team in developing technologies in for Mild, Full Hybrid and EV Vehicles to meet the growing & fast changing environment, & customer expectations.
Sat is a Cost & Management Accountant with over 35 years experience in the auto industry including OEM. Sat assumed key roles in Visteon prior to joining Comstar, including heading Visteon Asia Pacific Purchasing for Interior Division and successfully launch programs in India, Thailand, China, Philippines and South Korea. Sat was instrumental in improving India’s plant competitiveness, which helped Visteon to consolidate operations from Visteon Brazil, Hungary and Thailand plants into India. Sat launched the hugely successful Business Process Outsourcing Office for Visteon’s Purchasing function to India to support Visteon’s cost reduction initiatives. Sat started his career at DCM Toyota and Daewoo India in the areas of Cost Control & Accounting, Finance, Business Planning and Strategy.
Sat completed his Bachelors of Commerce (B Com Honors) & Master of Commerce degrees from Hindu College, Delhi University, India. Sat also holds Cost & Management Accountant degree from the Institute of Cost & Management Accountant, India.
Mr. Kiran Manohar Deshmukh
Mr. Kiran Deshmukh is the Group CTO of Sona Comstar. He is responsible for enlarging the existing technical capabilities of Sona Comstar to be able to design and build solutions for the customers that will determine the future of mobility. His role consists of undertaking new technology initiatives, both in manufacturing processes and product offerings. He is engaged in developing and securing new technical capabilities through competency building, inorganic acquisitions, and technology partnerships.
Mr. Deshmukh is an engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He has over four decades of experience in automotive components manufacturing, in the areas of Manufacturing, Process Control, Design, Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Research & Development.
Before taking up his current role, Mr. Deshmukh was the Executive Vice Chairman of Sona Koyo Steering Systems Ltd., the company he set-up along with the founder Dr. Surinder Kapur. During the 30 years at Sona-Koyo, he has been spearheading the company's implementation of the TPS, TQM, and TPM. He has led the company to be the recipient of the Deming Prize in 2003 and TPM Excellence Awards in 2008 and 2017.
Mr. Deshmukh was involved in setting-up of Sona Skill Development Center, Sona Group's initiative of skilling people for manufacturing industries. For a brief period of three years, he headed the Sona Skill Development Centre as its Managing Director.
Mr. Deshmukh is also the President of Indian Society for Quality.
Mr. Deshmukh currently supports the Visionary Leaders for Manufacturing Program (VLFM) as a Guide and faculty. VLFM was jointly launched by IIM (Calcutta), IIT (Kanpur), and IIT (Madras) in association with CII. It is supported by the Governments of India and Japan and aims to create visionary leaders for Indian manufacturing.
In 2006, The Indian Society of Quality honored Mr. Deshmukh with the Ashoka Award for the outstanding practice of quality management "by firstly making his company role model and then by leading and inspiring other organizations to start their journey in earnest with full vigor."
Mr. Deshmukh has presented several technical papers in seminars and conferences in the areas of Toyota Production System, JIT, Statistical Techniques, TPM, TQM, and Innovation. He also co-owns many patents in India and the US. He is the author of 'Conceptual Thinking in Daily Life,' book jointly published by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2017.
Mr. Rohit Nanda
Rohit Nanda is the Group CFO of Sona Comstar. His role involves partnering the businesses for stakeholder value enhancement, corporate governance, investment decisions, driving financial performance through judicious capital allocation and financial reporting. Rohit joined Sona Comstar in April 2019.
Prior to taking up his role at Sona Comstar, he was working with Usha Martin Limited as CFO, where he successfully led the transaction to sell its Steel Business to Tata Group to deleverage the company. In his previous positions with Jindal Stainless Limited, SRF Limited and Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited he has handled diverse roles involving exposure to mergers and acquisitions, treasury, business partnering, investor relations, cost management and financial reporting.
He is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
